Attn: Major General Peter Arnison
The following petition is available for signing at the Amamoor, Dagun, Kandanga, Belli, Carter’s Ridge and Cooroy Shops and in Gympie at David Gibson’s Office.
“Attn: Major General Peter Arnison
We the undersign wish to advise that, whether we are “affected” or “unaffected” by the proposed dam at Traveston Crossing by your “inundated” definition, we DO NOT accept the dam as “inevitable” (as you have stated on ABC radio 08/12/06). Many of us have recently attended the Office of Urban Management planning sessions and are extremely surprised that you have been left with the impression that we are “accepting” this ill-conceived, scientifically unsupported, yet to be approved swampland puddle.
We see no “potential” in being left adjacent to the proposed wasteland.
Please publicly withdraw your comments.”
We are aiming for a quick response to Arnisons comments so try to get these signatures on petitions this week.
Mary Valley task force chief rejects calls to quit
12 DEC 2006
The head of the Mary Valley Community Futures Task Force, Major General Peter Arnison, has rejected calls for him to resign.
Angry locals says he is “out of touch” with the feelings of the community affected by the proposed Traveston Crossing dam, in south-east Queensland, and called for his resignation at a meeting last week.
General Arnison has been employed by the State Government to help residents deal with the issues associated with building the dam.
He says he was not surprised by calls for him to stand down.
“People are very angry about the decision to do the dam at Traveston Crossing and that’s not surprising because if you’re losing your home and your business is affected and you’ve lived in that area for three generations - of course you’re going to feel very angry and very upset about it,” he said.
