I work with a lot of professional engineers, and when tea-room talk turns to Traveston Crossing Dam as a solution to SEQ long term water needs, there is an almost unanimous consensus that it is just plain stupid.
Today I was at a meeting in Rockhampton, and a colleague brought a clipping from yesterday’s Courier Mail to show me.
Its a letter to the editor, from Tuesday 21st August 2007.
Quote:
In view of mounting expert technical opinion contradicting the State Government’s statements on the Traveston Dam, Deputy Premier Anna Bligh should be able to restore some credibility by releasing the internal reports which, she says, support her position. As an engineer with almost 30 years’ experience in the field of flood-plain management, I would find the reports interesting reading.

Yes, Anna, if these reports even exist, I don’t know why you didn’t show them to the Senate Inquiry, but give us a look and let us peer review them for you.
