19th and 20th September, run by Save the Mary River Coordinating Group

The Kandanga 1000 has happened every year since the proposed dam was announced (although equine influenza caused the event to be can celled one year).

This year, the Kandanga 1000 is based at Imbil Showgrounds. The Saturday night involves great entertainment, an auction spectacular and roast dinners, with proceeds going to the Paradise Dam Court Case fighting fund.

The meeting will be held at the Kandanga Hall on Saturday at 9:30am. Mr Gibson said after what could only be described as confusing week in State Parliament, Mary Valley residents needed to hear about where they now stood.

“We have seen some very mixed messages from the Premier over the dam and people are rightly confused,” Mr Gibson said.

The line up includes many great speakers who have done specific research on aspects of the Mary River and Great Sandy Strait and Hervey Bay potentially affected by the proposed dam. The forum aims to provide an opportunity for the public and interested groups to become more informed about the Mary River and the Great Sandy Strait and to generate a discussion about the likely impacts of the dam would have. These are impacts the Government is trying it’s best to ignore!
