The self-proclaimed “consensus” behind man-made global warming is one enforced by threats, intimidation and ignorance, as is again being proven by media coverage of the latest UN meeting in Bali, where skeptical climate scientists are being shunned and ignored if they dare express an opposing viewpoint. Representatives of the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition, which include a member of the IPCC since its inception in 1990, were almost barred from attending the meeting when their credentials were rejected by UN officials.

Consensus Shattered As Major Scientific Study Says Global Warming Is Natural

The so-called scientific consensus that global warming is man-made has been shattered with the release of a major new study backed by three universities which concludes that climate change over the past thirty years is explained by natural factors and that attempts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions are irrelevant. Climate scientists at the University of Rochester, the University of Alabama, and the University of Virginia report that temperature fluctuations over the past three decades are not consistent with greenhouse model predictions and more closely correlate with solar activity.

Risks of nanos no small matter

Posted on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 11:40AM by Registered Commenterstevem in | Comments1 Comment

Nanoscale materials behave in unusual ways, combining with other materials like nothing else. In that uniqueness lies their potential for amazing new products worth trillions, and unknown environmental threats. Bunting and many experts worry about unexamined or unexpected hazards from nanoparticles when they come into direct contact with people and the environment. Researchers and government regulators say far more study is needed of the unique risk posed by these manmade, atom-sized materials capable of slipping through tissues and even living cells.

Bali Boondoggle

As folks in the northern latitudes prepare for winter, global warming zealots are heading to the tropics to join in a gabfest about global warming. While many will be shoveling snow these elites will be enjoying the surf, sand, and global warming in this tropical paradise. Organizers expect more than 13,000 diplomats, politicians, celebrities, activists, and members of the media to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bali, Indonesia from Dec 3rd to the 14th. The purpose of this conference is to workout a replacement for the global warming pact known as the Kyoto Protocol which expires in 2012.

Cloudy Days on the Global Warming Front

Advocates of anthropogenic global warming want you to believe that the science is settled and there is nothing left to debate. But this is the opposite of the truth; in fact, climate science is in its infancy and virtually every proposition relating to it is controversial. A case in point: the computer programs that tell us that human activity will lead to catastrophic warming assume that warmer temperatures will give rise to more high-altitude clouds, which in turn will trap heat in the earth’s atmosphere and create a positive feedback loop. Recent research suggests, however, that increasing temperatures will have the opposite effect, reducing the incidence of high-altitude clouds and thereby creating a safety valve rather than reinforcing the original warming.

Taxpayer asset sale-our water

Posted on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 12:24PM by Registered Commenterstevem in , | CommentsPost a Comment

Just why the State Government is taking the water is probably the question that the Mayors and their Councils should be asking. Many Councils presently make a small profit on their water operations and if it is taken over by the State Government this profit that some of the Councils make from the sale of water will have to come from another source. That is Council rates or some other charges will have to go up. Perhaps the most pertinent question that should be asked is just why does the State Government want to acquire the water assets from Queensland Local Governments? After all the Local Governments have made not a bad fist of running their water businesses, which is more than can be said for the State Government that has simply failed to provide the infrastructure necessary to keep the population supplied with potable drinking water. In fact the infrastructure achievements of the Goss, Beattie and Bligh Labor State Governments could only be described as an embarrassment.
