Is opposing Traveston Dam a ‘NIMBY’ issue?
Just in case you thought the Traveston Dam fight was all dried up, here’s an update from anti-dam campaigner Ian Mackay about where it’s at and what to expect. The campaign is far from over… and it’s never too late to get involved. See the end of this email for some ways which YOU can join the push to stop what otherwise could become the most embarrassing environmental disaster that Queensland has ever had.

Alcohol laws petition
Dear fellow Queenslander As parents of early high school aged children, we are concerned about the level of alcohol use within our children’s peer group. We believe that at this age, our children are particularly vulnerable to the dangers and harms associated with alcohol misuse. Right now, alcohol laws are under review in Queensland. This review will be completed by the end of 2007. We’re asking for your support to change Queensland law to better protect all our children.
One year on and the will to fight dam still flows strong
ALMOST a year after the controversial Traveston dam plan was announced by the state government, residents in the Mary Valley, although battle-weary and exhausted, are maintaining their determination to put a stop to the dam. Kevin Ingersole and his wife, Sharon, moved to Kandanga from New South Wales four years ago for their retirement and purchased a l2ha property with 400 mango trees. They finished renovating it about 18 months ago.
