A MAJOR study of rainwater tank quality in Brisbane has found it good enough to drink. The $600,000 study by Brisbane City Councll on 29 rainwater tanks found the water met Australian Drinking Water guidelines in most eases. Final results will be released in July. However, the study found fecal coliforms and e.coll within acceptable levels, except where animals and folIiage polluted the rooftop water source.

Queensland University Department of Medicine Rural Health Project Health Impact Assessment - Effects of the proposed Traveston Crossing Dam As part of their course, 3rd year Medicine students undertake an 8-week Rural Medicine Rotation, part of which is the completion of a Rural Health Project. One of the students, Ms Carly Fox, is currently working in Gympie and has initiated a Health Imapct Assessment relating to the impacts of the dam. COMMUNITY feedback on the draft Terms of Reference that will govern studies into the environmental, social and economic impacts of the proposed Traveston Crossing Dam close 5pm on Monday, (19 Feb 2007). “I urge people with an interest in the project to have their say on what they believe should be covered by the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that will be prepared on Stage One of the dam,” Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure Anna Bligh said yesterday. More than 100 submissions have so far been received from government agencies, local councils, community groups and individuals.
