The public has less than one week left to respond to the draft environmental impact statement for the Queensland Government’s proposed Traveston Crossing Dam.

The 1,600-page environmental report was released for comment last October.

Once it is completed, it will be forwarded to Environment Minister Peter Garrett who will have the final say on whether the dam goes ahead.

Queensland Water Infrastructure (QWI) CEO Graeme Newton says submissions need to be in the right format.

“The environmental impact statement submission period closes on [January] 14 and we encourage people with comments on the EIS [Environmental Impact Statement] to put submissions in,” he said.

“They need to be sure that they put them in the proper form and going to the QWI website will explain to them how they can do that, or looking at the coordinator general’s website.”
