Help take the dam fight to a new level
You and your family could win the chance to visit a beautifully preserved, unspoiled Mary Valley and a beach wardrobe as well — just by coming up with a dam-stopping slogan.
The Save the Mary River Co-ordinating Group is searching for a new look and a new slogan for its renewed campaign to save the Valley from the Trayeston Crossing dam proposal.
Even if you cannot come up with the best entry, there are fridge magnets (good enough to keep you alert as well as alarmed), stickers and stubby holders for runners up in the competition.
The first prize, however, is a set of stylish “No Dam” togs or boardies and a sun-shirt.
“Check them out on our website http://www.savethemaryriver.com and while you’re there buy gifts for friends and family,” a spokesperson for the anti-dam group said yesterday.
“Encourage children to enter too,” she said.
“Thousands of signs and slogans have been written in protest against the flawed Traveston Crossing dam proposal and thousands more people have joined our campaign. So we’re looking for new ideas.
“Entries should be sent to the Save the Mary River Co-ordinating Group at savethemaryriver@gmail.com or send it to ‘Dam Stopping Slogan Competition’, to Post Office Kandanga QLD 4570.
Your slogan may appear on billboards, websites, in print, on postcards, t-shirts and in the national and international spotlight.
Entries close March 15.
“Make sure you include your name and a contact email or phone number.
“The Save the Mary River Co-ordinating Group may use any slogans submitted in the course of the campaign to save our Mary River,” she said.
